Art Comprehension 1
My fabulous Art 1 students are stepping up to the plate engaged in a study of self-portraits using a system of monochromatic paints. We will merge into creating two origami pieces which will unfold into a color wheel, thus a study in color theory.
Drawing
Drawing students are currently drawing the human skull focusing on light sources, shadows, and highlights. They are also creating a picture of themselves as metaphors.
Ceramics
Students have learned about the three hand building methods. They are currently making slab pieces and cutting out Notans.
Sculpture
After a successful project modeling after Louise Nevelson work, the students were challenged with creating a
a skeleton puppet for Dia De Los Muertos.
They are currently tasked with a study on "houses on stilts. Using cardboard, string, foam board, wood sticks, and white glue they are making models of their chosen house.
Painting
Painting students are currently challenged with self-portraits while experimenting with newly purchased oil paints. They have completed the first assignment using acrylic paints and complimentary colors.
