Principal

I am looking forward to working with the staff, students and community at Priest River Lamanna Jr./Sr. High School.

I was the Principal at Eagle Cap Innovative High School and Baker Virtual Academy. I cultivated a welcoming environment for staff and students, and fostered a positive school culture focused on a strength-based philosophy. I developed systems that offered students multiple educational pathways to ensure the successful completion of high school for students facing mountainous struggles such as homelessness, parenting as teens, and academic challenges.

I lead a team to create the Targeted Title I plan for ECIHS, which included the development of a 13-point needs assessment, monthly family connection activities, and student enrichment programs. I managed the budget for two schools and supported a diverse selection of employees. I had no staff turnover for nearly three years. I have not just been a science educator, but a practicing scientist, as well, working as a chemical analyst, oil spill response researcher, winery technician, and a microbiologist.

My Master's Program at the University of Kansas has inlayed the foundations of responsible and organized leadership. I have extensive experience creating curriculum for multiple grade levels. I have developed engaging and well-scaffolded curriculum for 4th through 12th grade science courses. I have also taught a wide selection of electives including Culinary Arts, Anatomy, Health, Yearbook, and Life Skills. I have experience teaching English Language Learners, and adapting curriculum for better access to the content. I have developed and utilized many hands-on activities that increase engagement and retention for all learners. I have experience developing multiple modes of assessment to evaluate the various types of learners and enrich their learning process. I am highly organized and motivated, and willing to take direction. I work hard to build a strong instructional foundation built on love of learning, and mutual respect in my schools. I believe that every student can do well in school, and that we, as educators, have the responsibility and privilege to guide them.
